Role Service Designer Lead
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION | SERVICE | BEHAVIOURAL SCIENCE
Through Lands for Life, Rare supports smallholder farmers and their communities to shift to more sustainable agricultural and ranching practices.
Their people-centered approach, rooted in behavioral science and design thinking, shifts farmers’ mindsets around what sustainable farming and stewardship look like, overcomes barriers and biases and helps new behaviors stick.
I help RARE leverage technology to empower farmers to farm and steward the land more sustainably and reach more farmers cost-effectively and delivers sustained change at scale.

I worked in partnership with the L4L to define their scaling strategy and move them from a base of 500 farmers to 10 000 farmers. This resulted in the creation of a mobile-based technical support that provides timely advice to farmers, enabling target support where needed and adjust plans in real-time.
As the lead service designer, I ran a full program assessment with stakeholders and farmers in Colombia, synthesized data, best practices and apply insights to inform design decisions, ran a preliminary tech assessment of the current platform capabilities and ability to scale. I closely collaborate with the agg. and behavioral leads, and the training manager to define opportunities and barriers to scale at each level of the program, providing guidance and input toward the financial strategy, future partnership, and people strategy. I then assumed the role of UX designer and designed the core platform and native app MVP on FIGMA, and tested the initial prototypes with the core team. I defined the technical and development milestones as well as understanding the future tech team capabilities in order to develop the digital platform in close partnership with a solution architect.
